Carlyle-Backed Copia Power Hires Brian Callaway as Chief Financial Officer

Callaway brings more than $10 billion of recent capital raise success as well as experience leading and building the accounting, systems and reporting on more than $12B in private equity capital and assets.

New York, NY and Washington, DC – Copia Power (Copia) today announced that Brian Callaway will join the company as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on Feb 1, 2023. Copia is a renewable development platform formed in 2021 by global investment firm Carlyle (NASDAQ: CG) to develop and operate largescale renewable energy projects and seek to play a significant role in the U.S. energy transition. Copia is developing more than 17 gigawatts (GW) of solar and storage projects across the U.S and is led by a core management team, including Callaway, that has been working together since 2014, with a shared experience developing and building over 3.5GW. Callaway will oversee the capital markets and internal operations teams. The capital team is managed by Bailey McCallum and internal operations are managed by Aaron Saito.

His experience and relationships will help us succeed and his leadership will be critical as we seek to raise more than $3 billion in capital to support our projects under construction in 2023” said Ray Henger, Copia’s CEO. “Brian will relocate later in the year from New York City to work with other team members in our Dana Point, CA office”.

Over his career Brian has been a leader in the energy industry:

  • former Chief Financial Officer of a renewable energy company with $12 billion in assets under management and more than 4 gigawatts in operating clean energy assets

  • raised more than $10 billion in development and operating financing across equity, commercial and institutional debt, and tax equity in the clean energy infrastructure space

  • raised more than $4 billion in general and limited fund finance
