Troy Patton is an Operating Partner at Carlyle Group, specializing in technical operations with over 25 years of leadership experience in the energy and industrial sectors. He is based in Washington, D.C., where he advises portfolio companies on performance optimization, risk mitigation, asset valuation, and operational value creation.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Patton held several executive roles at prominent organizations in renewable energy and power infrastructure. He served as Head of Program Execution and Chief Operations Officer for Ørsted Offshore North America, where he led QHSE, engineering, procurement, and project execution across a portfolio of offshore wind developments. Before Ørsted, Patton was Chief Operations Officer of Northland Power, overseeing risk management and asset optimization for their operating portfolio and working closely with development and M&A teams. He also led Northern Power Systems as both President & CEO and board member, and held senior engineering roles with Vestas, General Electric, and United Technologies. Patton began his career as an Engineering Watch Supervisor in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard both aircraft carriers and submarines.
Academically, Patton earned his BS from Virginia Tech and holds a master’s degree from Clemson University.
