Mike Ashley
Chief Commercial Officer
Mike Ashley is the Chief Commercial Officer at Copia Power, where he leads power marketing and offtake transactions for the generation portfolio and energy supply for the digital infrastructure portfolio.
Prior to joining Copia, Mike was the Vice President of Origination at Aypa Power, where he led origination across all customer segments in WECC, ERCOT, MISO, and PJM and executed over 1 GW of battery storage transactions; and Senior Director of Origination at AES Clean Energy (formerly sPower) where he led origination for corporate and non-utility buyers nationwide and executed 2.2 GW of renewable energy and battery storage transactions. He has also previously held origination roles at EDP Renewables and Invenergy.
Mike has over 15 years of experience in energy development, having led and closed over 4 GW of physical and financial PPAs, Tolling Agreements, and commodity hedge transactions across wind generation, solar generation, hybrid solar + battery storage, and stand-alone battery storage. Mike has extensive transactional experience in CAISO, WECC, ERCOT, MISO, and PJM; working with investor-owned utilities, public power buyers, competitive retail providers, commodity trading desks, and corporate buyers across the country.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Colorado College and a Master of Science in Economics and Sustainability from the University of Edinburgh.
